Workability and Finishability

ExcellT Cement provides flowability and workability for increased productivity and superior performance. In many applications Excell Cements superior placing and finishing characteristics can significantly increase throughput and reduce labor costs. In block and paver plants the workability of Excell Cement has been shown to increase throughput significantly.

The enhanced particle structure and improved cementitious properties of the patented Excell Cement blends result in superior paste development and void elimination within the mix. Excell Cement is compatible with super plasticizers and other VMAs, and can be used with self-consolidating concrete (SCC) mix designs.

Improved Durability

The superior durability of Excell SCMs is a result of the dense microstructure of the engineered Excell SCM materials. The  low porosity and resulting low absorption along with the increased strength produce a concrete that is far more durable.

Chemical Resistance

Excell™ Cement improves resistance to attack from soils, groundwater, industrial, and sanitary wastewaters. Testing proved that products made with Excell Cement are highly resistant to acid attack.

Excell Cement is a “Greener Cement”

Manufacturing portland cement is a costly, labor-intensive process that requires about 80 separate operations, an assortment of heavy machinery, and an enormous amount of heat and energy. But many of the environmentally detrimental functions associated with producing portland cement do not pertain to the production of Excell Cement. While it is manufactured to tight, closely monitored specifications, Excell Cement’s overall environmental impacts are lower than those for portland cement.

Unlike portland cement, Excell Cement’s patented formula includes cementitious materials that do not require high-temperature firing. The manufacture of Excell Cement dramatically reduces both the consumption of fossil fuels and the corresponding release of greenhouse gases.

As a replacement for portland cement, Excell Cement reduces the amount of energy needed to produce a cubic yard of concrete, thereby generating overall savings of our natural resources. As Excell Cement consists of non-energy intensive cementitious compounds , for each ton of Excell Cement used in reducing the portland cement constituent, nearly one ton of CO2 gas is eliminated.

Freeze-Thaw Resistance

Using ASTM C666A specifications, Excel™ Cement proved less than a 2% material loss.

Hydraulic Conductivity Reduced

The superior durability factors of Excell Cement are a result of the dense microstructure of the Excell Cement materials. The low porosity and resulting low absorption were tested using ASTM Specifications D5084 proving Hydraulic Conductivity 5.2x10 -7 /CM per second.

Improved Color of EXL Select CP

Exposure to the environment can cause visual inconsistencies in colored concrete, reducing its aesthetic appeal.

Excell Cement results in enhanced, long-term visual performance for colored concrete. Its low permeability and superior efflorescence control help ensure that the beauty of colored concrete will outperform standard products for many years. Excell Cement’s lighter color and chemistry improves the efficient use of pigments while intensifying their brilliance.

TYPES OF EXCELL CEMENT

EXL Select  – A cost-effective cement replacement that enhances overall concrete performance in a broad range of applications. EXL Select RM has been specially developed for the ready mix, precast and prestress industries. EXL Select Select CP has been designed specifically for use in concrete block, interlocking paver, and segmental retaining wall products.

EXL HPC™ - Used for general and special applications where high-performance concrete properties are desired. EXL HPC enhances concrete durability and provides efflorescense control for colored concrete productswithout the use of additional admixtures.

Excell HPC can be custom engineered to meet architect and engineer requirements for special applications.

Cost-effective products are available for mine grouting and other geotechnical applications.
